In my tutorial, I described how to install Lotus Domino Server on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. In this tutorial, I explain how to install Domino Server's client counterpart, Lotus Notes, on the Linux distribution CentOS-4. IBM officially supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 for Lotus Notes installations and CentOS-4 is advertised as being binary compatible with RHEL 4.
I chose to install CentOS-4 in a VMware virtual machine, but all of the instructions below apply whether you are using a virtual or physical machine. If you do use a virtual machine, you don't need to burn a CentOS disk. Instead, you can have your virtualizer directly mount the ISO file that you download from CentOS.org.
Unfortunately, since the Lotus Notes installation file is not an ISO image, the simplest method of using it is to put it onto physical media. You can also connect the host and virtual file systems, although this is a little trickier.
